    THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE CROWDED INTO THE ACCRA SPORTS STADIUM IN GHANA ON SUNDAY (25 JUNE) TO MOURN THE DEATH OF THE LATE LIEUTENANT-GENERAL KOTOKA WHO DIED IN APRIL'S ABORTIVE COUP. THE CEREMONY WAS ONE OF A NUMBER BEING HELD THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY TO HONOUR THE MEMORY OF THE LATE GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING THE GHANA ARMED FORCES, AND RAISE MONEY FOR THE KOTOKA TRUST FUND.

    AMONG THOSE WHO ATTENDED THE NON-DENOMINATIONAL CEREMONY WERE THE CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL, GENERAL ANKRAH, AND THE VICE-CHAIRMAN MR HARLLEY.

    AFTER THE CEREMONY IN THE STADIUM, DURING WHICH MONEY FOR THE KOTOKA TRUST FUND WAS COLLECTED, THE MOURNERS TOOK PART IN A PROCESSION THROUGH THE STREETS OF ACCRA. AMONG THOSE IN THE PROCESSION THE KING OF ASHANTI, NANA SIR OSEI AGYMAN PREMPEH II.

    DANCERS FROM THE EWE TRIBE -- THE LATE GENERAL'S OWN TRIBE -- ALSO TOOK PART.
