Background: The Third African Games in Algiers have ended with the host country winning the final sporting contest - a soccer match with Nigeria.
SYNOPSIS: It was a fitting climax to the Games - the largest the continent has seen. Some 15 thousand competitors had taken part in the 15 day event which covered 12 sports. Nigeria were wearing the dark shirts. It was a tight game with neither side giving anything away.
Earlier, Ghana best Malawi to win the Silver medal. Nigeria attacked but were contained.
The winning goal was scored by Bencheikh of Algeria.
One-nil and Algeria takes the gold. Malawi took the bronze. In the final tally, Tunisia finished the Games with 29 Gold medals - Nigeria 22; and Algeria 21.
