Background: Talks took place on the 3d of December between A.A.Gromyko, member of the Politbureau of the CC of the CPSU, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, and Sir Alec Douglas-Home, Foreign Minister and Minister of Commonwealth Affairs of Great Britain, who arrived in Moscow on an official visit at the invitation of the Soviet Government.
Under discussion were a number of actual international problems and also issues relating to the development of bilateral Soviet-British relations. The talks were held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and frankness.
Taking part in the talks were:
from the Soviet side - S.Kozirev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, N.Lunkov, the Ambassador of the Soviet Union in Great Britain, and other officials.
from the British side - Sir Thomas Brimelow, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Affairs, Sir Terence Harvy, the Ambassador of Great Britain in the Soviet Union, and other officials.
