Background: President Anwar el Sadat of Egypt received the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi--Sheikh Khalifa Ibn Zaid--on Thursday (May 331) and presented him with the "Republic Medal" to mark the Sheikh's six-day visit to the country.
Sheikh Khalifa is also the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and Finance of the tiny Arabian Gulf State, the first cabinet of which was farmed on July 1 last year.
Abu Dhabi is one of the six Trucial Sheikhdoms in the Arabian Gulf which declared themselves an independent severing state of the Union of Arab Emirates at Dubai on December 2 last year. A week later, the Union became the 132nd member of the United Nations and sought membership in the Arab League.
During the visit, the Crown Prince had talks with senior Egyptian government ministers, including the Deputy Premier for Predication and Trade, Dr, Aziz Sidqi.
SYNOPSIS: The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa Ibn Zaid, has been spending a week in Egypt for talks with government ministers. He was also received by President Anwar Sadat. Sheikh Khalifa is the Prime Minister of Abu Dhabi's first cabinet, which was formed in July last year. And he is also the Minister for Defence and Finance. Abu Dhabi is one of six Trucial Sheikhdoms which declared themselves an independent sovereign state--the Union of Arab Emirates--last December.
Dr. Aziz Sidqi, the Egyptian Deputy Premier for Production and Trade was among the ministers to meet the Crown Prince. After the talks, President Sadat presented Sheikh Khalifa with the Republic Meda to mark the six-day visit.
