Background: The annual Operation Swan Hunt swung into action on the River Alster, Hamburg, Germany, November 19-20. But it was all for the good of the swans.
The Alster waters are too cold for a winter home. Once a year they have to be moved to warmer quarters. The swans don't exactly co-operate. It's something of an indignity for a swan - having his wings tied and being bundled into a boat.
But the comforts of warmer waters quickly soothe their injured pride.
