  • Description

Seen through the lens of an underwater camera, German divers are removing 70,000 German poison gas shells from Flensburg Fjord to beat the danger of sea corrosion exploding their fuses.

With compass and oxygen apparatus the divers plunge 30 metres to the wrecks of two ships sunk at the end of the war. The operation of lifting the shells and dumping them in barrels and concrete in the Atlantic will cost one and a half million D-marks.
