SYNOPSIS: Indonesia has claimed that Australia now recognises its integration of the former Portuguese colony of East Timor President Suharto's personal spokesman in a statement issued today only one-hour after the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, left Jakarta, said Indones considered it has received this recognition during Mr. Fraser's visit. The President's spokesman said Indones could use Australia's de facto recognition to support its own stand if it was again attacked in the United Nations.

Mr. Fraser is due to return to Austral tonight. But the Foreign Minister, Mr. Peacock, faced some persistent questions on Australia's East Timor policy when he returned from Jakarta day.

Newsmen at SYDNEY airport repeatedly asked Mr. Peacock to re-state Australia policy on the former Portuguese colony. The Foreign Minister's reply was that Mr. Fraser had re-stated the East Timor policy in the communique issued in Jakarta last night. Mr. Peacock was also asked about the tone of the talks between Mr. Fraser and President Soeharto.

During his last full day in Indonesia Mr. Fraser took time off from official talks to tour the family farm of Indonesian President Soeharto. Peter Munckton reports.
