  • Description

The Prague Cuban Embassy, during the last hours has been receiving countless letters, cables and resolutions some of the latter being personally delivered by delegations of the local working population. Delegation after delegation is calling to assure the Prague representatives of the Cuban people that their country will not be abandoned. Workers, employees and co-operative farmers from all parts of the country are expressing their indignation in view of the pirate actions of the United States, together with their unanimous consent with the pronouncements of both the Soviet and their own government. Any handshake by one of these delegation members always means only one thing: "Do trust in us, our Cuban friends..."
Workers of the CKD Dukla Praha Engineering Works, on October 24th, had assembled for a ceremonial meeting to celebrate the 130 years Jubilee of their works existence. The celebration turned into a protest meeting of workers, technicians and employees against the provocative step taken by the Government of the United States. A resolution dispatched to the local Cuban Embassy said: "We wish to assure you of our solidarity and we are fully endorsing both the declarations of the Soviet and of our own Government. We are sending our brotherly greetings."
"Hands off Cuba! American Fascists shall not prevail! We are joined with the People of Cuba! "These were the words of the speaker who, on October 25th, was addressing a short protest meeting held between two shifts by miners and technicians of the Gottwald II colliery, of Vinarice. The miners made their words stick by signing a number of new engagements. Similar words were pronounced by the men and women who had come for their p.m. shift at the sorting plant of the Lezaky Giant Surface Mine, of Most. In their resolution, addressed to the Communist Party Central Committee, the Government and the Cuban Embassy of Prague these workers engaged to reach their years targets ahead of schedule prior to the end of this year.

We, the undersigned soldiers of this unit, thoroughly disagree with the aggression of the United States Government directed against the peace loving and independent state of Cuba. These were the introducing words of various letters sent by many soldiers to the capital, during the last days.

The soldiers who are just about to sign a declaration of solidarity with the people of Cuba belong to an anti-aircraft unit. This accounts for the concluding words of their letter: "Each of us is in his place. We are watchful and concentrating on our duty. And we shall pledge with similar words as the revolutionary soldiers of Cuba. They have a slogan: NO PASSARAN! Our slogan shall be: No craft shall get through!
Cuba si, Yankee no! These were the slogans ruling over a meeting of many thousands citizens of Liberec, Bohemia, who had come to manifestate in their town square.

Many thousand miles from his home island and yet at home Senor Rector Pedroso, a Cuban student, addressed the meeting.

True, thousands miles are separating our country from revolutionary Cuba - but the peoples of both countries are firmly united in a joined front.
