    PRESIDENT JOSEPH MOBUTU OF CONGO-KINSHASA RECENTLY RECEIVED AT HIS OFFICIAL RESIDENCE, MOUNT STANLEY, A WEST GERMAN INDUSTRIAL DELEGATION REPRESENTING THE KLOECKNER-HUMBOLDT OF WORKS OF COLOGNE-DEUTZ. OTHER RECEPTIONS AT MOUNT STANLEY WERE HELD FOR CONGOLESE UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES AND FOR AMERICAN GENERAL BENJAMIN DAVIS, DEPUTY COMMANDER OF THE UNITED STATES STRIKE COMMAND (STRICON).

    THE WEST GERMAN DELEGATES, REPRESENTING THE WELL-KNOWN HEAVY MACHINERY MANUFACTURING PLANT, WERE SUBMITTING PLANS FOR SETTING UP A FACTORY IN CONGO-KINSHASA. THE CONTRACT IS A DIRECT RESULT OF PRESIDENT MOBUTU'S VISIT TO WEST GERMANY EARLIER THIS YEAR.

    THE UNIVERSITY DELEGATES WERE REPRESENTING A REPORT TO THE PRESIDENT FOLLOWING AN INTER-UNIVERSITY COMMISSION MEETING ATTENDED BY RECTORS, DEPUTY RECTORS AND DEANS OF VARIOUS FACULTIES. THE REPORT OUTLINED NEW PROGRAMMES OF HIGHER EDUCATION, INCORPORATING THE OBLIGATIONS OF TEACHERS AND STUDENTS TOWARDS THE STATE AND THE NATION.

    GENERAL DAVIS' VISIT WAS FOR TALKS WITH PRESIDENT MOBUTU ON LOGISTICS AND CO-OPERATION IN THE TRANSPORT FIELD. STRICON IS A MILITARY COMMAND SOUTH OF THE SAHARA AND ONE OF ITS PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES IS THE PROVISION OF MILITARY ASSISTANCE TO A NUMBER OF COUNTRIES INCLUDING CONGO-KINSHASA.
