On the western seaboard of Australia, this lonely stretch of country has become an important link in the United States Gemini and Apollo projects for a manned spaceflight to the moon. Here, where camel teams once passed with their loads of wool, one of the world's most advanced tracking stations has been established jointly by the American and Australian governments.
