    Miss Bernadette Devlin, the Independent Member of Parliament for Mid-Ulster, told newsmen in Northern Ireland on Sunday (25 October) that the task ahead was to unite people.

    Miss Devlin was holding her first press conference after service a four months prison sentence for inciting a riot. She said she believed the people of Northern Ireland should direct their energies towards the formation of a democratic socialist republic. During the conference Miss Devlin was asked why she was now against rioting.
