SYNOPSIS: American Vice-President Spiro Agnew has been in Singapore on the second leg of his ten nation world tour. The visit began with a courtesy call on Singapore's President Shears.
Mr. Agnew then went on to the residence of Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew for further talks. The two men held a 90 minute private discussion. Among the topics was the current thaw in Sino-American relations, the military situation in South East Asia and American investment in Singapore.
Later the two men adjourned to the golf course to continue their talk. This move must have been viewed with some trepidation by Mr. Lee's security men. Mr. Agnew's golfing reputation isn't something to be envied. He has the habit of either hitting his golfing partners or members of the gallery with a golf ball. However relations between the two countries weren't seriously affected as Mr. Agnew swung straight and true throughout the round. The winner of the game was kept as secret as the nature of the talks between the two men.
From Singapore Mr. Agnew flew onto Kuwait by way of Bombay where anti American protestors were at the airport to demonstrate against the U.S. position in the Pakistan civil war.
