  • Description

Last week (Monday 9th June) Swiss alpine guide Sylvian Saudan completed a ski-run down the face of the 20,000 foot (6096 m) Mt. Mckinley in Alaska, as part of his ambition to climb and then ski down all the world's major peaks.

This library film shows the 36-year-old guide during a similarly successful attempt to ski down the face of Mont Blanc exactly a year ago. Saudan has skied down Mont Blanc--at 16,000 feet (4877 m) the highest peak in the Alps--three times in the last five years. The footage of this attempt includes some particularly exciting shots, for Saudan was taking the difficult and near-vertical northwest route form the peak.

Saudan spends his summers as a mountain guide in Chemonix, France, and his winters as a ski instructor in Aresa, Switzerland. He has also skied down the northwest face of the Eiger and many other more miner alpine peaks.
