  • Description

King Hussein of Jordan followed his recent visits to Egypt and Syria with a one day visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday to discuss the current Middle East situation.

King Hussein met Saudi Arabia's King Faisal in his palace in the Arabian capital Riyadh. They talked about what action Arab countries should take.

There have been doubts about King Hussein agreeing to the presence of an independent Palestinian delegation at the Middle East peace conference in Geneva, but in a recent Egyptian newspaper interview he denied that he would object to such a delegation. The newspaper wrote that King Hussein stressed the need to go to Geneva with one unified opinion and said even if Jordan disagreed with the Palestinian Liberation Organisation over details, it did not mean Jordan wanted to deprive Palestinians of the right to voice their own opinions and join in determining their own destiny.

King Faisal later accompanied King Hussein and is delegation to Riyadh airport. King Hussein sent a cable to King Faisal thanking him for his hospitality and praying that God would guide them to do what was best for the Arabs and victory of Islam.

Mr. Bahjat Al-Tahouni, Chief of the Royal Cabinet who visited Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Syria just before King Hussein's tour, Jordanian Prime Minster Zeid Al-Rifai and Field Marshall Habes Al-Majali were also in the visiting delegation.
