Olympic 1,500 metres champion Kip Keino easily won the two mile event in an international athletics meeting at London's Crystal Palace on Sunday (5 July). His time was eight minutes twenty-nine seconds, the fastest time in the world since 1968.

Keino, one of the world's best middle distance runners, took an early lead in a very fast race. He went to the front for the second time after five laps to win comfortably from Britons Brendon Foster and Chris Stewart.

Another Kenyan triumph came in the 3,000 metres event as Philip Ndoo beat a strong field with a time of eight minutes two point six seconds. Ndoo will be a strong contender in the upcoming Edinburgh Commonwealth Games.
