Background: The French Assembly held a special session here today to debate the Algerian cease-fire agreement. The session opened with a message from President de Gaulle in which he announced that he proposes to hold a national referendum on his Algerian policy on April 8th. All the Deputies stood while the message was read except three extreme Right-Wingers who remained seated to show their hostility to the peace agreement. Some sixty Right-Wing Deputies and one Socialist roared out the Marseillaise when the National Assembly was officially informed of the cease-fire agreement.
