SYNOPSIS: Madrid - and most of Spain - celebrated on Sunday the thirty-third anniversary of the end of the Civil War. General Francisco France joined the thousands of people who thronged the streets - in spite of the fact that he had been suffering from a gum infection for eight days, cancelling all public and private functions.
The one-and-a-half-hour parade included one thousand wheeled and tracked armoured vehicles.
Fighter jets represented the air force.
Thirteen thousand members of the military and civilian forces took part in the display which commemorates General France's leadership of the Falangistas to victory in the three-year-long civil war. (PAUSE) Following the parade, which was shorter than on previous years - General France left for the Presidential Palace on the outskirts of Madrid.
