    Background: EIGHT COUNTRIES HAVE SO FAR BROKEN OFF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH BRITAIN OVER THE RHODESIAN ISSUE. THEY INCLUDE THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC, WHERE YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) THE BRITISH AMBASSADOR WAS INFORMED THAT HE MUST HAUL DOWN THE BRITISH FLAG OVER HIS EMBASSY IN CAIRO AT SUNDOWN.

    THE BREAK WITH BRITAIN IS NOT COMPLETE AS ONLY THE POLITICAL MEMBERS OF THE EMBASSY STAFF WILL BE LEAVING. COMMERCIAL, CONSULAR, CULTURAL AND PROPERTY STAFF ARE REMAINING. SIR GEORGE HAS BEEN TOLD THAT HIS STAFF HAVE ONE MONTH TO MAKE THEIR DEPARTURE ARRANGEMENTS.
