Background: A large delegation form Libya is presently touring Uganda, discussing aid, trade and military cooperation with the government of President Idi Amin.
The visit has resulted in an announcement that Libya has offered to build and maintain two new hospitals in Uganda, and will also train military personnel from Uganda.
Military training was until recently carried out in Uganda by an Israeli mission -- but it was expelled last month, allegedly for ???aging in subversive activities. General Amin has made it clear that in future no nation will be invited to send military training missions into Uganda. Those personnel from the Uganda Armed Forces who benefit from the Libyan offer will do all their training in Libya.
