    IT IS THE FIRST BY A BRITISH PRIME MINISTER TO INDEPENDENT NIGERIA AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WERE AT THE AIRPORT TO CHEER HIM.

    HOWEVER TODAY, ABOUT 300 STUDENTS DEMONSTRATED WITH ANTI-BRITISH SLOGANS WHILE SIR ALEC WAS VISITING A HOSPITAL IN THE CAPITAL.

    AT THE START OF HIS VISIT SIR ALEC SAID HE WOULD BE DISCUSSING WITH NIGERIA'S LEADERS THE ROLE THE COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES COULD PLAY IN A WORLD OF IMPROVING RELATIONS BETWEEN RUSSIA AND THE WEST.

    AFTER THE BRIEF PRESS CONFERENCE, SIR ALEC DROVE OFF READY FOR A ROUND OF TALKS WITH SIR ABUBAKAR.
