    The Hawker Siddeley P1127 Jet V/STOL development aircraft for the Royal Air Force today successfully carried out its first conventional flight. Chief Test Pilot, Bill Bedford completed taxy trial before lunch and this afternoon at 1623 hours the P1127 carried out a conventional take-off. After completing a flight of 42 minutes Bill Bedford reported that the aircraft handled extremely well and was fully serviceable.

    This aircraft is the first of a batch of six development aircraft which is to be followed by a substantial order reported to be in the region of sixty aircraft. The first P1127 R.A.F. will enter squadron service in 1968.
