    It took Miss Evert time to control her play, and she lost the first set before settling don to play some fine power tennis in the remaining games. Sportswriter are already heralding her as the next world champion, and Miss Evert did not disappoint them on Monday.

    SYNOPSIS: Miss Chris Evert, the astonishing 16-year old player from florida, continued her run of match-winning games in the United States open tennis championships in Forest Hills, New York, on Monday when beat Miss Francoise Durr -- the former French champion -- by two sets to one. Miss Evert lost the first set 2-6.

    In the second set, Miss Evert settled down to play some fine attacking tennis She placed her shots well and appeared be in complete control of the situation not once being flustered by the more experienced Miss Durr.

    The third set progressed in much the same way, with Miss Evert the obvious favourite with the American crowd. Both players moved quickly on the good surface and the games were played in quick succession.

    Towards the end of the set, the more accurate Miss Evert placed several extremely good shots in the rear of the court, forcing Miss Durr to move quickly to cover ground. But in the last game, Miss Evert, Cool and accurate, almost a will.
