  • Description

On the last full day of his 12-day visit to France, Apl 2, Soviet Premier Khrushchev held a Press Conference at the Chateau de Rambouillet, near Paris.

He answered questions on a wide range of topics. A new item of information disclosed was that French President de Gaulle had accepted an invitation to visit Russia - date to be decided later. The Russian leader said his frank talks with General de Gaulle had not solved all problems, but they had helped to pave the way for the Summit Conference.

Russia was ready to share her knowledge of atomic energy for peaceful uses with France, and as far as military uses were concerned there was only one form of co-operation - mutual cessation of atomic tests and destruction of nuclear stockpiles.

Mr. Khrushchev said if the Communist bloc was compelled to sign a separate peace with East Germany the validity of Western garrisons in Berlin would disappear; but at the Summit he would be prepared to discuss disarmament before Berlin
This was Mr. Khrushchev's second major Press conference in France. He faced 300 journalists Mar 25 for an hour. Yesterday's Conference was followed by a 50-minute Television broadcast, in which Mr. Khrushchev praised Communism and the Soviet system.
