Background: Thousands of Communist Youth Party members attended a mass rally in the Greek capital, Athens, on Monday (5 January) to call for the freeing of three Communist Party members.
The three people, all leads of the Greek Revolutionary Communist Party, were gaoled last year in connection with the burning of the United States Embassy in athens on 21 April last year.
They were imprisoned for one and a half years and their case is to be reviewed by a Court of Appeal this week.
At Monday's rally the demonstrative crowd loudly applauded speakers who accused the Greek Government of using "terror tactics" against Communist Party members and demanded that this week's appeal be dismissed and the three convicted men freed
