The President of Togo, M Etienne Eyadema paid a courtesy call on French Prime Minister Jacques Chaban-Delmas on Friday (September 25). The President said he congratulated the Prime Minister on his recent by-election victory in Bordeaux.
After their meeting which lasted 20 minutes, the Togolese leader told newsmen that he and M. Chaban-Delmas had spoken about Franco-Togolese co-operation and Togo's second five-year plan due to start in 1971. He said he hoped that France would continue to help Togo finance certain projects.
President Eyadema declined to comment about possible elections in Togo before driving to the Foreign Ministry at the Quai d'Orsay for talks with Foreign Minister Maurice Schaumann.
The Togoless head of state leaves for home on Saturday after a two-week visit during which he has also conferred with French President Georges Pompidou.
