Background: A strong Italian team completely outplayed a soccer team from the United States at a friendly international match in Rome's Olympic stadium on Wednesday (2 April). The Italian won the match by 10 goals to nil (10 - 0).

Watched by a sparse crowd of 15,000 people, the plucky Americans were outclassed by their opponents in every department of the game. And not surprisingly, because ten of the eleven Italian players are expected to be chose to play against Poland in the european Championship later this month.

The one man who is not expected to play in that match was Chinaglia who was brought in as a replacement for Antognoni. However, playing before his home crowd, he had an exceptional game, scoring twice himself, and helping to make several of the other goals.

The first goal was scored after seven minutes by Rocca. By the half-time whistle the score was 5-nil. The scorers were -- Rocca (2), Cordova, Chinaglia (2), Graziani (3), Savoldi (2).
