Background: The exodus of Uganda Asians is now in full swing as they comply with the order by President Amin that they leave the country by early November.

The exit of the Asians is reflected in airline bookings which are reported to be heavy for many weeks ahead. As the number of Asians leaving Uganda grows, Nairobi in Kenya, is becoming a major transit point.

Many of the expelled Asians have talked in Nairobi of rigorous searches at Entebbe airport on the way out, and most appear to leave the country penniless.

In the meantime, an announcement is expected anytime about airline arrangements for handling the main exodus. A compromise is expected which would allow East African Airways to share the traffic with B.O.A.C. and the other major British carrier, British Caledonian Airways.
