  • Description

Ministers of the European Economic Community and the four nations applying for membership met today (Saturday, 6 November) in the Italian town of Bracciano to approve the Community's plans for a future summit meeting to chart its future course.

The six member-countries of the Community decided at a separate meeting in Rome on Friday (5 November) to hold the summit.

The Foreign Ministers agreed in Rome that Britain and the other three applicant countries should play a full role in the preparatory work which they will carry out within the framework of regular EEC meetings in Brussels. However, the Norwegian, Irish and Danish Governments are all shortly to face referenda on entry into the Community and would prefer that the summit be held after their polls.
