Do you recognize him? This is Vladimir Kutz, the Olympics champion, But why is he here at the starting line? This is the first time that he is seen at a race in the role of a judge. The racers are to cover a distance of 35 kilometres -- from the town of Pushkino to the Palace Square of Leningrad. This popular contest is called the Leningrad marathon race. This is the 32nd race held here. By tradition racers from the age of 20 to grey-haired athletes enter the race. This is Mikhail Godin from Moscow. He's 68. In the Leningrad marathon race are runners from Moscow, Staline, Kurak, Siberia and from the town of Novgorod. Nikolai Rumyantsev and Nikolai Terentyev from Leningrad are leading new. They have been running alongside each other for 15 kilometres. But here Rumyantsev increases his pace... Leningrad streets are turned over into stands. After an hour 36 minutes and 45.2 seconds Nikolai Rumyantsev is first to cross to the winner almost two minutes. Now and now runners are reaching the finish. After 2 hours 40 minutes and 15 seconds Mikhail Godin reaches the finish. That's a splendid result for a 68-year-old athlete.
