    GHANA'S MEN'S TEAM WON MOST OF THE TRACK EVENTS AT THE MEETING. S.F. ALLOTEY, GHANAIAN HOLDER OF THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES 220 YARDS RECORD, WON THE 100 YARDS IN 9.5 SECONDS. EJOKE OF NIGERIA WAS PLACED SECOND.

    NIGERIA WON THE FIRST AND SECOND PLACES IN THE THREE MILE EVENT. J. ABIDOYE CLOCKED 14 MINUTES 13.7 SECONDS TO SET A NEW NATIONAL AND ALL-COMERS' RECORD. GHANA'S MAIN HOPE IN THE EVENT, DAVID ASANTE, RETIRED FROM THE RACE IN THE SEVENTH LAP.

    THE 220 YARDS EVENT WAS ALSO WON BY ALLOTEY WHO RETURNED A TIME OF 21.1 SECONDS. IN SECOND PLACE WAS ANOTHER GHANAIAN -- ADDY.

    IN THE 440 YARDS EVENT FOR MEN GHANA WON BOTH THE FIRST AND SECOND PLACES. SARPONG, RUNNING FOR GHANA, WON CLOSELY FROM HIS TEAM MATE DANIELS IN A TIME OF 48.1 SECONDS.

    NIGERIA WON THE FIRST AND SECOND PLACES IN THE MEN'S 120 YARDS HIGH HURDLES. ERINLE'S WINNING TIME OF 14.5 SECONDS WAS A NEW NATIONAL RECORD.

    THE NIGERIAN WOMEN'S TEAM, WHICH WON ALMOST ALL THE FIRST AND SECOND PLACES IN THE WOMEN'S EVENTS, SCORED AN EASY VICTORY IN THE 4 BY 110 YARDS RELAY. THEIR WINNING TIME OF 48 SECONDS EQUALLED THE GHANA NATIONAL RECORD.

    GHANA WON THE MEN'S 4 BY 110 YARDS RELAY, THE LAST EVENT AT THE MEETING, IN 41 SECONDS. THE GHANA QUARTET INCLUDED TWO MEMBERS OF THE TEAM WHICH BROKE THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES RECORD IN KINGSTON, JAMAICA LAST YEAR.

    AT THE END OF THE COMPETITION, MR. A.K. DEKU, COMMISSIONER OF POLICE AND NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL MEMBER FOR SPORTS, PRESENTED THE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHIES TO THE NIGERIAN WINNERS.
