Fourteen young men and women critical of U.S policy in both Viet Nam and the Dominican Republic staged a sitdown Friday (7 May) in front of the wait entrance to the State Department in Washington D. C.
They carried signs calling for withdrawal of U. S. troops from both countries.
When they blocked the entrance, security officers were called and the demonstrators were unceremoniously dragged away.
The pickets were members of a group that calls itself the "Committee for the Self-Determination of Peoples."
Besides calling for withdrawal of American troops from South Viet Nam and the Dominican Republic, the demonstrators also demanded that Secretary of State Dean Rusk and Presidential Adviser McGeorge Bundy be removed from office.
Some of the demonstrators complained they had suffered cuts and bruises as they were dragged along the pavement.
