President Lanusse is visiting several countries during his present tour -- and in each he's having talks with senior officials on Latin American problems, and trade.

SYNOPSIS: Bogota Airport in Colombia -- and a ceremonial welcome on Thursday for visiting President Alejandro Lanusse of Argentina.

Waiting to greet him -- President Pastrana of Columbia, and senior members of his government. And further away -- about seven thousand well wishers.

For President Lanusse, his arrival in Bogota marks another stop in the diplomatic crusade which he hopes will take him to every major Latin American Republic within his first year of office. On this particular trip -- he's visiting Venezuela as well as Columbia, and he'll begin a visit to Brazil in mid-March.

President Lanusse came to power in a bloodless coup eleven months ago. He is reportedly criticised in his own country for allegedly neglecting home affairs for the sake of headline-catching foreign towers. Before his arrival in Bogota, he'd met such diverse political personalities as Marxist President Allende of Chile -- and President Stroessner of Paraguay, considered a rightwing strongman, President Lanusse sums up his foreign policy by saying he tries to "break down ideological frontiers".

On this first day in Bogota, President Lanusse was driven to the residence of President Pastrana -- the San Carlos Palace. There, the two leaders had their first round of talks. What was said hasn't been revealed, but it's believed the two men reviewed South American problems, and trade possibilities.
