  • Description

North Vietnam's Haiphong port, about 25 miles (40 kms) east of Hanoi and one of the prime targets during the United States bombing of the country, has just begun a three year development project. Although the scale of the redevelopment hasn't been announced, it's known that the shipyard construction areas and cement factories will be enlarged. The project was started this year and is due to be completed in 1973. With an end to the bombing of the port, the inflow of goods from overseas has increased. A semi-official North Vietnamese source filmed activity at the docks where ships from Britain, Poland and the Soviet Union were unloading supplies.
