'I've just receive the letter from the International Olympic Committee in which they have rejected the proposal of the private organising committee for the city of Los Angeles to promote the Games in 1984 in this city.... the proposal included a phrase which would have protected the city against financial responsibility.'
'Call on Councillor John Ferrara'
'Thank you Tom, needless to say it is a disappointment to some of us who have worked for so long trying to get the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and I hope that the private committee will be able to come up with some solution to this problem..... if we cannot protect the city from any financial responsibility we should withdraw from the Olympic Games.'
'Thank you Dave Bradley. Our committee has its next meeting on Thursday of this week and at that time we will take up this subject and discuss what our recommendations might be.... probably come in the way of a from of recommendation to the Mayor and the city council.
'Didn't you way - in a news conference two weeks ago that the IOC did not accept your proposal, you will recommend also that the application of the Games be with drawn.
'Yes that is true'
'Let me clarify that.. our proposal would be for Los Angeles to sign the IOC agreement to which we have always been prepared for comments... we ought to give the private committee opportunity to explore that-.
