  • Description

Britain's Prime Minister Edward Heath left for Paris on Wednesday (19 May) for talks with France's President Georges Pompidou. The talks will centre on Britain's bid to join the Common Market, which has been frustrated in the past by French objections.

Earlier on Wednesday, at a political meeting of Conservative Party women, Mr. Health urged Europe to achieve by cooperation what Napoleon and Hitler failed to attain by conquest--European unity. Following Mr. Heath's address, Britain's Minister of Agriculture, James Prior, spoke of Britain's obligation to help New Zealand. Britain's large importation of New Zealand dairy products is a crucial issue in the Common Market talks on Britain's entry.
