    A FREEWAY TO RELIEVE TRAFFIC CONGESTION INTO SAIGON WAS OPENED ON WEDNESDAY (JUNE 25).

    THE SIX-MILE ROAD, BUILT BY THE SOUTH KOREAN DOVE UNIT, WILL ALSO CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS INDUCING MAJOR INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES IN THE WESTERN AREA OF SAIGON AND PROVIDE A DEFENSIVE TACTICAL ROAD NET FOR THE CAPITAL.

    THE CEREMONY WAS OFFICIATED BY THE SOUTH VIETNAMESE MINISTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS, MR LUONG THE SIEU, WHO DECORATED THE COLOURS OF THE UNIT AND ITS COMMANDER, BRIGADIER CHA KYU HUN.

    DURING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FREEWAY, WHICH STARTED IN MARCH 1967, THE UNIT'S COMBAT ENGINEERS ENCOUNTERED SEVERAL VIETCONG ATTACKS IN WHICH 14 VIETCONG WERE KILLED AND TWO CAPTURED.
