Reel 1 Inchon Heavy Industry (steel)
Workers' homes: shanty-town style - typically Korean city suburban. PAN to see same area thru concrete part of factory.
Lifting raw materials (pig-iron) on overhead gantry.
General steel-mill shots with furnaces, red-hot ingots, sheets, rounds, flats, sheet bars, &c. being worked in various sections.
Looking down on shanty-town type of dwellings of workers, TILT to see factory beyond.
Workers' home on steep hillside - kids coming down thru houses. Many city dwellers live on barren hillsides as flat, fertile land is at premium in Korea and the most arid and inaccessible land is used for housing.
From within factory area: train chugs across main gate - workers' homes on hillside beyond.
Reel 2 Hankuk Glass Industry (plate-glass)
Barges, junk, &c. criss-cross in Inchon Bay near glass factory: merchant ships can be seen out in bay (anchored). Raw materials have to be brought shore in lighters, &c. as bay is too shallow.
Top of water tower on glass factory - name of factory in Korean.
Wide shot of factory: sand dump in foreground.
Sand being loaded and carted.
Glass-cutting room: worker takes sheet from automatic lift, carries to rack. From other side of rack cutters take sheets and cut into prescribed sizes.
Sign: 'Philadelphia' on crate, plus sign on same crate denoting that glass is manufactured in Korea - this for export.
this is only interior work that can be filmed as glass-makers are very jealous of their methods and will not allow film or photographs of other processes.
