    The Information Ministers of the Entente Council -- the oldest regional organisation in Africa -- met for the first time in the Ivory Coast capital Abidjan on Monday (17 November).

    Representative from the five countries -- the Ivory Coast, Dahomey, Upper Volta, Niger and Togo -- during the Council's 15 years of existence have met to discuss all subjects from stock farming to public works, but Ivory Coast Information Minister M. Laurent Dona-Fologo told his fellow information ministers it was the first time they had all met officially.

    The idea of the meeting os to discuss the exchanging of all forms of information between the five member countries. Items on the agenda were co-production of radio and television programmes, the possibility of buying a common broadcasting station to put out foreign news and the standardisation of broadcasting equipment. The conference ended on Tuesday (18 November).
