    A Court Circular from Kensington Palace, London, Mar. 8, announced the engagement of the Duke of Kent, to Miss Katharine Worsley, 28, daughter of Sir William Worsley, Lord Lieutenant of the North Riding of Yorkshire.

    It is expected that the date and place of their marriage will be announced shortly. After the marriage the Duke intends to live in Buckinghamshire, where he owns property bequeathed to him by his father, the late Duke. His mother, the Duchess of Kent, will continue to live at Kensington Palace. The Queen is expected to give her consent formally under the Royal Marriages Act at the next meeting of the Privy Council. Her Majesty was informed of the Duke's intended engagement before she left for her Asian tour.

    Miss Worsley first met the Duke four years ago when he was serving at his regiment. The Royal Scots Greys, at Catterick, Yorkshire. She is an accomplished pianist and is fond of riding and country pursuits.

    The Duke of Kent is to be her Majesty's special representative at the Sierra Leone independence celebrations in April. He succeeded to the Duchy in August 1942, at the age of six, after his father's death in a flying service during war service. Apart from his passion for fast sports cars, the Duke enjoys riding, hunting, polo and skiing. Library film shows him captaining his regimental team at a British Army of the Rhine skiing competition at Winterberg, Westphalian Mountains, Feb. 2, 1959.
