    The U.S.S.R. scored an overwhelming win over Great Britain in their two-day athletics meeting which ended in London today (Saturday). They won both the men's and women's matches with considerable ease.

    In the men's match, the U.S.S.R. scored 134 points to Britain's 87, winning 16 of the 21 events. In the women's match, the Russians got 71 points to 53, taking eighth of the 12 events.

    Outstanding in the men's track events today was the 5,000 metres, won by the Russians steeplechaser Viktor Kudinsky in 13 minutes 47 seconds. He produced a magnificent final burst to win, covering the last 200 metres in 25 seconds exactly.

    In the 800 metres, John Boulter, of Britain, broke the British all-comers and British national record by a tenth of a second - finishing one minute 46 points five seconds.

    The Soviet pole vaulter, Gennadiy Bliznyetsov, cleared 16 ft eight and a half inches (5.09 metres) to beat his Soviet record.

    Top performances in the women's match were also recorded by Soviet Athletes. In the women's shot, Tamara Press broke her own British all-comers record with 58 ft five and a quarter inches (17.81 metres). Valentina Popova won the javelin with 180 feet seven inches (55.04 metres) and a set a new record for the White City Stadium, where the event was held.
