    THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, MR CHOU EN-LAI, WAS GIVEN A BIG SEND-OFF FROM DAR-ES-SALAAM' YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) AT THE END OF HIS FIVE-DAY VISIT TO TANZANIA. HE WAS BID FAREWELL AT THE AIRPORT BY GOVERNMENT MINISTERS AND PRESIDENT NYERERE, WHO HIMSELF TODAY FLEW TO NIGERIA FOR AN OFFICIAL VISIT BEFORE GOING ON TO LONDON FOR THE COMMONWEALTH PRIME MINISTERS' CONFERENCE.

    ON HIS ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT, THE CHINESE LEADER INSPECTED A TANZANIAN GUARD OF HONOUR CARRYING CHINESE RIFLES. EARLIER, MR CHOU AND PRESIDENT NYERERE ISSUED A JOINT COMMUNIQUE EXPRESSING THEIR DETERMINATION TO MAKE GREAT EFFORTS FOR THE COMPLETE SUCCESS OF THE SECOND AFRO-ASIAN CONFERENCE IN ALGIERS LATER THIS MONTH.

    BEFORE WALKING TO HIS ILYUSHIN AIRLINER, MR CHOU WAS BID FAREWELL BY GOVERNMENT LEADERS INCLUDING THE PRESIDENT AND A GROUP OF TANZANIAN TRADITIONAL DANCERS. IN THEIR COMMUNIQUE, THE CHINESE AND TANZANIAN LEADERS CONDEMNED "FOREIGN INTERVENTION" IN VIETNAM AND THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.

    THE COMMUNIQUE SAID MR CHOU AND PRESIDENT NYERERE STRONGLY CONDEMNED POLICIES OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IN SOUTH AFRICA AND RHODESIA. THEY PLEDGED THEIR FIRM SUPPORT TO ALL AFRICANS UNDER COLONIAL RULE, INCLUDING ZIMBABWE, SOUTH AFRICA, MOZAMBIQUE, ANGOLA, PORTUGUESE GUINEA AND SOUTH WEST AFRICA.
