  • Description

A crowd estimated by police at 15,000 turned out to welcome Queen Elizabeth on Tuesday (26 June) as she made an informal appearance outside Toronto's Parliament Building.

And the Canadians who went to see the Queen at the stat of her tour of Canada showed that they still liked a bit of pomp and tradition by waving the red-white-and-blue flags and following her to Toronto's City Centre.

But the Queen was less formal about it all. Again, she staged one of her ad-lib 'Royal Walkabouts', wandering through the crowds on foot, stopping to chat with anybody. She also made a friendly gesture to the French Canadian who'd come to see her by delivering a short speech in French.

Before she wound up her Royal Stroll, the Queen met the special party of children who'd entertained her. They represented 40 different nationalities living in Toronto.
