  • Description

At least 300 people have died in monsoon floods which have made over a million Indians homeless since early July. Thousands of homes and huge areas of crops have been damaged or destroyed.

Pakistan and Bangladesh have also been badly-hit.

In the west Indian state of Rajasthan, continuous heavy rains have forced the evacuation of many villages. In the Indian Punjab, rives breached their banks in many areas and inundated 100,000 hectares (250,000 acres) of crops and destroyed or damaged 14,000 dwellings.

The toll statistics in Bihar State, Uttar Pradesh and the Kashmir have been equally as bad.
