    A TUG CLAIMED WITH ITS SISTER SHIP TO BE THE BIGGEST IN THE WORLD HAS GONE INTO SERVICE WITH A DUTCH COMPANY FOR WORK MOSTLY WITH SUPER-TANKERS AND OIL DRILLING RIGS.

    THE "WITTE ZEE" OF 1,539 TONS WAS BUILT AT KINDERDIJK IN HOLLAND. ITS SISTER SHIP, THE "ZWARTE ZEE", BUILT AT THE SAME SHIPYARD, WAS LAUNCHED IN 1963.

    THESE TUGS ARE ALSO SAID TO BE THE WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL -- DEVELOPING 9,000 HORSEPOWER. EACH IS 254 FEET (76 METRES) LONG AND 42 FEET (13 METRES) IN BEAM.

    THE "WITTE ZEE'S" OWNERS SAY IT WILL BE USED FOR SPECIAL JOBS AROUND THE WORLD HANDLING THE NEW BREED OF SUPER-TANKERS AND TOWING OIL RIGS INTO POSITION.
