A new hazard-free playground has been developed in Holland for mentally and physically handicapped children. The playground is a huge air cushion, originally used as a stage "fun" prop for a television programme.
The idea was adopted by authorities at the Westerhonk Institute for handicapped children to allow the youngsters to exercise without risking injury. The cushion is made of the fabric PVC with polyester reinforcement.
It has proven so successful that a dutch newspaper has started a campaign to raise founds for more of the cushion playgrounds, which cost about GBP 1,200 (2,880 dollars) each.
