Gymnastics... and China has scored a number of good wins in both men's and women's events at the Asian Games in Bangkok. On Sunday (10 December) their men took the floor and sidehorse finals and, in the women's balance beam event, Chucheng of China won handsomely.

SYNOPSIS: Here's a gold medal being won...Li Yueh-chin of China in the men's floor exercises. Scoring nineteen point four-five he finished one quarter of a point ahead of this compatriot, Peng Yapin.

One of the most graceful and popular events, the women's balance beam, Chucheng of China was the only woman to score more than nineteen points...nineteen point forty... winning her medal by almost half a point from Jung Sook of South Korea, who was just ahead of another Chinese, Li Ya-chun.

Splendid form and rhythm on the side-horse from Shiraishi of Japan. He was to get a silver medal.

The man who beat Shiraishi...and by a mere tenth of a point...Tsai Hunatsung of China. His win was evidence of the depth of talent in China's men's and women's teams.
