    The international youth holiday centre SPUTNIK is situated in one the Crimea's most beautiful places - Gurzuf, near the world-famous resort of Yalta.

    Its spacious light buildings of glass and concrete stand on the very shore of the Black Sea.

    The centre accomodates ten thousand young holiday-makers. Half of them are men and women from the United States, France, Britain, Poland, Germany and many other nations. Practically, anyone may come to the SPUTNIK. All he has to do is apply to the Travel Agency of the Union of Student and Working Youth in his own country.

    The holiday lasts about a month and includes excursions to Yalta, the beautiful palace of Livadia, the largest Soviet children's resort of Artek, the Nikitski Botanical Gardens, which can boast plants from nearly every country in the world, and a sea trip to the Alupka resort, also on the southern coast of the Crimea. The holidaymakers have every convenience at their disposal, including small rooms for two or three, a library, fresh Soviet and foreign newspapers, sports grounds, launches for sea trips, water skis hiking and sports equipment, and small boats which can be used for fishing.

    A great attraction is bathing in the sea. Added to sunbathing it improves health and gives the body a beautiful chocolate tint.

    The Soviet Union has eight such centres, all situated in picturesque places of the Caucasus, Crimea and Baltic republics. All are very popular. Apart from good rest young men and women from other countries are attracted there by a possibility to meet Soviet youth. The centres have bars where they can sit over a cup of coffee, a glass of tasty Crimean wine or cocktail, talking with Soviet young people on every possible subject.
