  • Description

Uganda's new president Yusufu Lule told a news conference in Entebbe on Saturday (14 April) that one priority for his new government would be to restore the Ugandan people's confidence. Mr. Lule says he has no political ambitions himself, and his neutrality made him the choice of both the country's left and right political wings as the successor to Idi Amin.

SYNOPSIS: On the grounds of the heavily-guarded Entebbe State House, Mr. Lule gave his first news conference as President of Uganda. This quiet man, and his new transitional government, face massive tasks that include uniting the people, getting the country back on a sound economic footing, and wooing back investment to Uganda.
