Background: A huge crowd turned out to see the final night of the Third International Amateur Boxing Tournament in Bangkok.
And the largest cheers from the predominantly Thai crowd were for Thailand's Featherweight, Pradit Srisatit, seen here fighting Orlando Bastidas of Venezuela.
The slightly built Thai outclassed Bastidas completely and went on to win by a unanimous points decision. Pradit not only won all his fights during the tournament but was also awarded the trophy for the best individual boxer in the competition.
The former Thai military leader, Marshal Prapas Charusathiara, watched impassively as the Thai fighters won bout after bout. But the home team was hard pushed by the fighters from Uganda. The Ugandans represented by boxers of the calibre of John Odhiambo... ....... seen here defeating Philip McElwaine of Australia........ showed class and style in winning four of their fights.
This enabled them to finish in equal first place with Thailand. Both teams scored twenty four points each.
Five points were awarded for a gold medal, four for a silver and one for a bronze.
