  • Description

Competitors in the International Pre-Olympic Winter Games meeting at Sapporo in northern Japan had their first opportunity to use the new olympic bobsleigh run on Friday (Feb 5). Practice had been delayed because higher than normal temperatures were melting the ice walls of the run. A Visnews camera team shot exclusive coverage of the practice, which did not start until after sunset, and they will be covering the entire eight-day games.

Only a few teams from the 24 nations competing have brought their own bobsleighs, most are using Japanese sleighs -- identified by 'NIPPON' marked on them -- and therefore identification of individual teams at this stage was difficult.
